‘Want Some More?’

Bournemouth based graduate theatre company Stage Strong Productions are exploring the harsh reality of life with an eating disorder in their upcoming production ‘Want Some More?’.

The piece explores the intricacies of living with a wide range of eating disorders including diabulimia and binge eating.

Retelling word for word accounts of individuals who have come forward with their stories, this verbatim inspired piece of theatre focuses on reknitting accounts into a narrative. The aim of the production is to engage younger audiences and encourage a discourse about unhealthy relationships with food.

Producer and stage manager, Elizabeth Stefanec, graduated from Bournemouth Arts University in June 2018 and created Stage Strong Productions in partnership with her fellow graduate Natalie Garwood.

Speaking to The Link, Elizabeth explained where the inspiration for ‘Want Some More?’ came from, “During a break in rehearsals on a previous production the whole team were having a discussion about how eating disorders effect everyone in one way or another, it grew from this chat over lunch to this really deep conversation about the whole spectrum of eating disorders and how they’re rarely spoken about and that the charities are barely fundraised for and that felt like an injustice for me for some reason.”

“We were lucky enough to be supported by BEAT during this process, the UK’s largest eating disorder charity. They have been unbelievable, providing us with information and experiences from their ambassadors.”

Stage Strong Productions are showcasing this production across the South West and at Edinburgh Fringe Festival this summer.
