Brighton indie rock quartet, Black Honey, are set to release their highly anticipated debut album this year, there has been a buzz surrounding the band since early 2015 but it seems that 2018 is theirs for the taking.
Black Honey have been under the radar for years but that doesn’t mean their sound is amateur, in fact, very much the opposite. They have been solidly touring smaller, more intimate venues throughout the years, also gigging with Royal Blood and from there cementing a strong friendship.
They have hit the jackpot with a combination of lead singer, Izzy Baxter’s dreamy vocals and the instrumental power that the band are able to achieve. They are undeniably old school in their approach to life as a band, embracing all avenues of touring and truly enjoying the recording process.
Last month they announced their first headline tour in over a year, during which they will play six regional dates, beginning in Hull at the Welly Club and finishing with Portsmouth’s Wedgewood Rooms. The band made the point during the announcement that the smaller venues will mean that tickets will sell out quickly. It seems very soon, however, that Black Honey won’t need to concern themselves with the size of the venues they are playing, as this summer they look to be a support act for Queens of the Stone Age when they play Finsbury Park. Being on a line-up like that can only do wonders for a band that would carve their own success organically regardless.
